Dispatchable generation
The Energy White Paper, Powering our Net Zero Future (CP 337), published in December 2020 by HM Government, defines dispatchable generation as: ‘…electricity generation that can be turned on, off, up or down as needed.’
Net Zero by 2050, A Roadmap for the Global Energy Sector, published by the International Energy Agency in May 2021, defines dispatchable generation as: '... technologies whose power output can be readily controlled - increased to maximum rated capacity or decreased to zero - in order to match supply with demand.'
